I don't have a picture to show but I'll describe it the best I can. I am rebuilding a 02 Viper ER in which the center rod bearing went out. I have cleaned up all the cylinders and will be replacing the center piston ,although it wasn't servely damaged. My question is on the center cylinder after cleaning with a scotchbrite pad there are 3 verticle lines (more like very small indentations then scratches. running from the ports to the head. There is no residual alum. in the bore. just these lines or indentations. Would this cylinder be safe to reuse or should I buy a new one. The bore is shiney and you can still see the crosshatch pattern in the surface. Thanks for any advice.

I SAY YOU WILL BE FINE. IF YOU CAN RUN YOUR FINGER NAIL OVER THEM WITH OUT FEELING A DIFFERENCE, NO PROBLEM. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Unfortunately my camera isn't that good, they don't show up. They are not sharp and only a few thousandths deep if I had to guess. A fingernail doesn't catch as they are smooth, but if you run your finger over it cross ways you can barely feel it. Thanks for the help guys. Gil

Gil, I think that cyl. Should be fine. I would run a quick hone on all 3 of them to help the new rings seat in.
