I installed my psi twin pipes last week along with the clutch kit from Max Perf. I installed a green primary spring, 2.1 (inners) and 4.5 (outers)...I could have those backwards. I also installed thier multi-angle helix at 3-3.
I engage just below 4000 which is right and I don't over-rev. I think the Max Perf sheet said 8100-8200 and I'm right there.
When I get it over 6000 it takes off like a rocket. However between 4400 and 5600 it's kinda a dog. It doesn't take a lot to get it to the 6000 mark and then zoom.
Is this a clutch issue? Carb issue?

I bought a bender clutch kit for mine and have the same weighted rivets, but mine went in the other way (4.5 inner, 2.1 outer). Call Max Perf between 1pm and 5pm eastern time. This is when their techs answer questions (585-384-5810), and see if you have yours in the wrong way. It seems to me that your engagement should be a tad higher with a performance set up like that. How is your jetting by the way, I know you were a bit nervous about that?

I jetted it just like the book/sheet said. I think I lowered the fuel screws and changed out the one main jet to one size larger. (I know I did it, but I can't remember the numbers right now.) Tested it out and plugs looked good. Checked them after a longer ride, about 70 miles total and they were black. Not oily black, but black. The temp was also getting in that over 32* range and I think that had alot to do with it. It seemed to be good to me.
I could have been wrong on how I had those weights in too, I'm trying to remember how I pounded them in.

If your clutch set up is as Max Perf states then you could have a lean bog in your mid range. That is fixed by adjusting the clip on your needles. Others on this site can give you specifics, I know enough to be dangerous when it comes to carbs!

I checked the sheet. I've got it clutched per the sheet. How could I check the mid-range lean?

This link will explain how carbs work. Great information! If you decide to adjust your carbs, there is directions to do so on the TY tech section.

I'd try 10* more twist in the secondary to help keep the rpms closer to the power range, and quicken the backshift. Good luck!

So I'd move it to the #4 position on the helix to get the additional 10* right?
(3 on the secondary + 4 on the helix)x 10*=70*

You are correct.

I'll check the mid-range jetting again by running at 1/2 throttle and killing it and checking plugs in a couple of weeks when I'm up again. If it is lean, Do I move the needle jet up higher, in essencse lowering the clip position?
