Well summer projects are set. Im taking my wifes and my viper out to 144". Few questions on gearing. I see a lot of set ups for mtn vipers but nothing when running reverse with 38 bottom gear. From what ive read i see i should gear down. Can i just drop a tooth or 2 (go to 21 or 20 top) and achieve same effect. My riding will be on 50/50 trail, off trail. Top speed not an issue, mor corner to corner riders. Will be running ripsaw or cobra track. Also any clutch changes i need to look out for. I know its slow around here but any help with this would be great. Or even some links, ive read a bunch but may have missed one. Oh yea i will be running 9 tooth drivers and removing guards. Thanks chris

I would go with the 21/38. Makes more difference changing the top gear and still descent top end. Minimum clutch tuning changes if any.
20/39 IMO would be too steep and something I would use in the mountains.

I have run 22/38 on my long travel, reverse, 144" SRX for many years now. I am primarily trail riding. I tried 23/38 and I felt it was too steep I believe 20/38 would be too low for trail use so when top end is less important, 21/38 should be just about right.

im running 21/38 on my 144 viper droped to 9 tooth extro drivers and love it
go to mountain performances web sit they have alot of great info on streetching a viper to 144.
i used there kit with rails and moved the skid back in the tunnel with the 133 rails. makes the angle on the front of the track less of an angle and the trenching is nill to none. i ve got thee outta four sleds like this now and will be doing my daughters new to her sled we just got last week.. hope next yr brings more snow than this yr !!

21/40 / GWG primary / Green secondary / 8dn-10 weights looks like the stock MTN Viper setup. I know that weights are slightly different also.

COBRA track!!!! After riding my 121 with both tracks in various conditions, the cobra takes the cake hands down every time. Off trail the ripsaw trenched BAD where the cobra performed very well. I love this track, performs just as well on hard pack like the ripsaw, just way better when the snow is softer like powder or spring slush, it gets traction.

Yes im going to stay with the proaction and go rail extensions. Iv'e read every post on here about this and most say go to another skid but sticking with what i know. If i do change skids in the future it will be a mono with rail extensions. Very easy mod with templets and most seem to like the ride. The mono 121 and 136 use same mounting points so it would be just as easy to do a 136 with extensions to 144 for me. Iv'e done my home work on this and hope im ready!!!!

I really like the look of the cobra track! How has it held up as far as lugs tearing/missing ect??
