What is involved for a 2000 SRX? Getting the front Ohlins shock off for a rebuild was a nightmare (Yamaha engineering at it's finest). Hopefully getting seat off and moving gas tank is easier. Please give me some instructions. Thanks.

Farily straight ahead. Bolts for the seat are in the trunk. Bolts for the tank are under the seat and the tank connections are under the hood. Should take all of 15 minutes.
X2, take the two nuts off in the trunk of the seat, pull the seat up and disconnect the taillight wire, take the two nuts off on the tank and pop that off after you disconnect the wires.

Not even close, guys.
Take 2 bolts off in the trunk
Take 2 nuts off under the seat holding the tank
Take 2 screws off on the sides
Take elastic strap off of tank
Take air box out (2 bolts)
Take oil injection tank off (2 more bolts and brackets)
Disconnect over flow line
Take 4 screws holding fuel baffle in place
There isn't any other way to do it.

Whats a fuel baffle?

I was wondering the same thing?? Also, it doesnt like the process removing the tank was that far off from what everyone described....
Sorry. Fuel sender. Pretty important step in taking the oil injection tank off which I don't believe was mentioned. Not sure how all this can be done in 15 minnutes especially when the fine folks at Yamaha decided not to use stainless steel nut and bolt for under the seat. Rust was pretty bad.

post #5 talked about the oil tank
What a rediculous post!
You forgot this, you forgot that. Big friggin deal. Go at it and get the job done. On second thought, if you are bitching about removing the front shock maybe you should have someone do the job for you. If you think working on a Yamaha is so bad why dont you give a Polaris or better yet, a Cat a try some day & report back to us.

Son, I don't think you want to go there. Currently working on 2 Cats and one older Formula MX (besides 2 mid 90's SeaDoos).
Job is done on the SRX.
