Hey All,

Just gauging an interest here on some reproduction seat risers. I am planning to make some very similar to that of the Excell riser. They will be black in color with the same dimensions (3in in rear, 2in in front.) the first batch will be for the Viper and I also (with enough interest) will make special risers with the same dimensions for the SX folks out there. They will be hand made with an injection molded type process and I will include the necessary hardware. I am currently in the early stages of this project and am planning to have a prototype for a Viper within a month to a month and a half. I am going to try my best to offer a decent turnaround time (2-3 days max) between orders and will most likely only have one mold for each model. IIRC cure time will be around 8 hrs each. I have spoken with MrSled in regards to this manner and this thread is approved by him. I am looking for at least 10 folks that have an interest in this project to put things into high gear.
Also, I am going to try to keep the prices economical (under $200 usd) and am going to offer a decent discount to Admins, Mod, and VIP members of this board. (Really going to be worth the 15 bucks IMHO)
I am planning to make this a LIMITED RUN, just mainly for us Yammie junkies and the few stragglers here and there. As you can see I am NOT a vendor, nor an advertiser, hence the reason this will be a limited run and I have received permission from the CEO of this site to do this run under my current member status. I am NOT doing this to get rich folks, I am doing this in my free time to give back to this site and some of the amazing folks (moparrules, BETHEVIPER, Super1c, mrviper just to name a few) that have given me and many others the priceless knowledge through their advice and experiences (not to mention the tasty pictures ;)! ) and expertise. I also have noticed the prices of BOSS seats have gotten pretty spendy and I would like to offer an alternative to those of us with less endowed bank accounts.
Now that thats out of the way...
If anyone has pictures of seat risers, or hardware packages or anything that could improve this project please feel free to contribute your comments and questions.

My only question is, will a gloss black be okay? Or is everyone thinking they'd like a more satin color.

Thanks for reading and lets see how this goes.

Sounds like a great project and a much needed one. Very cool of you to offer this to help others out. I cant say enough how much the seat risers help out. Im going boss this year but sounds like these will be very nice at a fair price. If i get a vote i would think glossy black would look sharp against a polished tunnel! ;)!

Let me know how this turns out, i might be interested in one for elizabeths sled. I like the idea of it being plastic. Light and weather resistant. I also found out huricain strap works great to make a new bracket to hook in where the gas tank is for your oem seat tabs to slide under. And toilet bowl flang bolts and nuts work great for the back bolts. Come in all lengths and the nuts are nylon locking nuts. Comes in a pack of two with washers for just a dollar or two. And they are rust resistant.

Hey Chris did the Excell risers have a front strap for the seat tab?
Yes but it was built into the riser if i remember right. Then the riser slid under the tank to secure the front. I used to have a pick of it. Ill see if i still have it.

Great Tom, I will keep that in mind. Im currently drawing things up (crudely) in paint and then getting an idea for putting a seat latch at a reasonable cost on the front of the riser for the seat to hook into. Then on to gathering materials. Pics to come within the next couple weeks.

Cant wait to see what you come up with. This is a cool project!

Update: I've got the material for the Viper prototype. I plan to get the prototype made this weekend. Pics to follow.

I also would be interested in your prototype. I think the seat material should be in a satin finish with a wood grain affect or ribbed configuration to keep from sliding around on the seat. The stock seat on a 2002 viper is very slippery when it get's wet.

i think that some kind of rougher thin Kevlar type fabric would be cool!!! i know you need more grip but you don't want to fray/rip you clothes! like to see a pic!

My first template is done. Pics coming. I'm planning to keep it simple like the excell risers. I will continue to update this thread as often as possible.

Another update: I am investigating working with a local injection molding company to make the actual mold and parts, however, I fear that it could possibly be cost prohibitive to keeping the actual costs of the risers down. I will let everyone know what comes of this in the next week or so...

MrSled, I am planning to send you a pm within the next 24 hrs. I have some potentially exciting news from Aaron Excell...

It's mostly a plan b Chris. I am still working on something with a local injection molding outfit, as my original plan to use my own materials to make the mold are not working to my expectations.

Well here's what I've gotten: a couple months back i emailed Aaron Excell and he told me that if I could get 10 orders he will build a mold and fire them out. Is there any interest at this point from 10 members? Cost is $250 for TY members... Otherwise I'll keep trying for my other options. The biggest problem is trying to keep the costs down. Pourable plastics with black pigment and release compound is expensive to buy even in bulk... :(
