Well I'm due for another rant... I will leave out the week of poison ivy (so far), and week 4 of awesome elbow tendinitis...
Woke up and ran some errands early this morning, arriving home I signal to pull into my driveway, saw a dude walking and we were going to pretty much hit my drive at the same time, so I slowed down, when he heard me slowing he stopped and flagged me to pull in. (We live in town on a highway, one lane each way, with parking in front of house).
So I never even had to stop just started turning in. I he horns and squealing from towards my sidewalk...WTF!
Dude came ripping through trying to pass me on right, through the parking zones.
My truck tire ran down the length of his car and he wound up in my yard! Busted my coil spring, tire messed up, and Im sure alignment outta whack...
I asked him "what the heck were you doing"?
He said the same to me...
He had 3 differant BS stories in 5 minutes about why he was innocent for, passing me at 30MPH, on the right, while I was turnning.
He says he has to get to work, "he's the high school administrator, and the police can just come talk to him" and he left the scene.
I call dispatch at like 8 AM, they said hang out there like 30 minutes tops, an officer will be there. OK 3 calls later he arrived at 12:30 (noon).
I wont even mention missing work waiting.
Give my statement, he says he will be back this afternoon. OK
2 calls later at 830 pm dispatch says hes in a council meeting he will be messaged to come straight here after.
OK.
Its now 9:10, no calls, no stop over!
My truck is down, no insurance info from the administrator.
I guess I'm not important enough to matter!

HAve a nice day.

I'll never understand the rubbing eyes, panicked looking, swerving, passing, gotta get to work people who will drive like that all their life when they could simply get their lazy butt out of bed 5 minutes earlier and then drive to work like a rational human. People are so different behind the wheel.....

that is 100 % so very true.If people would leave a few minutes earlier..a lot of accidents wouldn't exist.Humans are strange beasts today...

i would call the STATE POLICE on that d***head. i know that in michigan leaving the scene of a accident is a pretty serious offence. passing someone on the right is a good way to kill someone. let us all know what happens with this.

Never let someone leave the scene. Now that guy can lawyer up and say whatever he wants. IF you even see the guy again. Did you get his license plate #? When something like this happens you need to get all of his info. DL number, plate number, insurance info AND WRITE IT DOWN. Then, if he decides to skip out on you all ou have to do is have a police report and let HIS insurance company, as well as yours, know what happened. Been there, done that.

opsled.

PS, couldn't resist. lol

Lord I appoligize, yada, yada, yada, sumpthin, sumpthin,,, pigmies in New Guinia..

OK. Today I got the update I was expecting.

His State Farm agant called me and said they are 0% liable. They said I should have been driving closer to curb before turning, I guess my drivers ed teacher missed telling us thast parking stalls are actually another lane to drive in. Driver now claims I was parked on highway talking to guy across street, even though myself and 2 witnesses have him on opposite side of street, and not talking. Keep in mind this lying dude is the "head honcho " of our public school!
My Gieco policy was only liability so they can't pay or arbitrate anything for me.
Our Chief of Police who was the first responder (over 4 hours later) basically said I should have had a local insurance company. That was the real problem.
I guess not passing a guy on the right, through parking stalls, leaving the scene, giving a false statement, and having his evidence on car removed by the next morning... NO tickets for him! thats not a problem...
I suspect I should recieve a ticket in the mail in the next week or so, and be out the $700 because I was in someones way!
Its comfoting to know he oversees the education of like 300 kids here in town
GOD HELP ME!

If you have witnesses, get them to make statements, go to his agent and complain in person, with police report and statements. Also, take pictures of the area of road where it happened. Google earth is good for this. Others will fill out their accident report and fudge the area of road to make it not their fault. Agents will just go with what their insured says is true unless the issue is pushed. Go to the next school board meeting and talk to all the members and make your situation known. I am a member and want to know everything that is going on with our employees rumor or not as they represent our town. I would have recommended you go to the Sheriffs as they are the highest level of law enforcement but evidently they didn't help you out much.
good luck. Next time, if the guy wants to leave, pictures, his insurance info, and a brief written statement from him of what happened. Also, witnesses statements at the time of accident are more credible if something went to court later.

STATE POLICE, its what you pay them for. either way he broke the law by leaving the scene. he said he had an accident with you, he said he left. open and shut. county sheriffs arent much good. probably has a kid or grandkid goes to that school.

I would also notify the state police. That guy should be fined for fleaing the scene.

Contacted state police tonight. They said not really something they can take over. They said our city chiefs boss is the county DA. Found out today the other driver is buddies with our Chief...
Its no longer about money. Next Friday is the deadline for our officer to file his report. I will be down there, day of, to collect all statements and reports, then off to find a good lawyer. Have talked to witnesses again, and they say they gave detailed and honest statements saying he passed on the right, and left etc... I will be doing photos, maybe even a scale model of scene this week..
