DYNO TESTED A 2001 SXr 700 RED HEAD TODAY WITH MY NEIGHBOR, SLED HAS PSI PIPES, HEAD CUT, SHIM KIT FOR BASE GASKET, V- FORCE REEDS , REED SPACERS , TRANSFER PORT KNIFE EDGED. SLED MADE 145 @ 9000. THAN WE ADDED THE VIPER CDI AND DYNOED TO 147.8 @ 9000. this sled has gone a 10.28 on tar. WHAT YOU GUYS THINK ?. I MYSELF THOUGHT HP WOULD OF BEEN TAD HIGHER. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I never really thought of those red heads as powerhouses. Personally if I were gonna spend all that cash I wouldve put it into a SRX or Vmax4. Seemed very reliable though.
Just my 2 cents
Definately not knocking it, dont get me wrong...Im still blue blooded.

To get a 145hp to run a 10.2 says you have very VERY good setups (clutch / track / fuel..) Good job!

Not sure if the shim, knife edge, and reed spacer help you with this one. Only may have moved rpm around

CHRIS I AGREE, BUT THEIR PSI '' MOD '' BLASTERS FOR THE RED HEAD AND PEAKED AT 9000, SO who knows. ALL THE OTHER PORTS ON THIS ENGINE ARE STOCK. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Tony, as usual some cylinder porting will make that thing breathe. The auxilary exhaust ports are really small and there are a number of areas to work over on them cylinders. I wonder if the CPR pipes would have been better for your application.

that's a good number. the v-force add maybe 1-2 hp, reed spacers 0, head cut & transfer work & shims??? how much is the head cut? can you post the dyno sheet? i have a '01 on my lift now that i will be taking to jim's soon. it has bender trail porting & trail pipes w/ carbon tech reeds. i will post the results.

BOB, I SHOULD OF INVITED YA OVER. JIM TALKED ABOUT YOURS ALOT. HEAD HAS .35 OFF, SQUISH IS .052 (DON,T WANT TO GO REAL TIGHT, TAR SLED FOR 1/4 MILE) PSI IS 150. LOVED THE VIPER CDI. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Tony great #s. I always loved my red head! We ran ours with almost the exact set up you just dynoed, the exception was the pipes. We ran Cpr's. After a few weekends of running that set up we ported the cylinder and bored the carbs, our 500ft et's dropped considerably. Get the porting done and start chasing the 9's you may be able to get there!

.035 would make it around .040 squish. must have the squish band machined? i will try the viper box also. what was the bsfc?

THANKS DAN, I REMEMBER THAT SLED WHEN WE CAME UP. HIS BROTHER HAS A SX THAT WAS DONE BY JUSTIN, HE BEEN IN THE NINE,S. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Come to think of it, I thought when Valin posted some ignition timing numbers from the sx box, srx box, and viper box, that the sx (red head) had the hottest timing numbers?? If that's the case, then Tony's engine liked less timing and then I wonder how a srx box would do??

INTERESTING JOSH. FIRST PULL WITH SX BOX MADE BEST HP, BUT TO LEAN AND SLIGHT DETO STARTED. 3:16 (yammie tony)

That them psi i sold yah? Good numbers hope my ported cpr sx with 38's will make some good numbers

Is this the same sled you had forsale on amsnow? If so you posted it weighed in at 398lbs, would like to know how you got it that light. I have a prostocker that is a tank and there is not alot more weight I can shed. And yes this is a little off topic.
