Hi guys!! I'm brand new to this site and to Yamaha SRX. I just bought a 2000 with 2100 miles on it all stock except for 144 picks. I want to buy a windshield for it. What size is the best? 10.5, 11, 13.5? I want it to look cool not too small but not huge like some nerd. LOL. Thanks!

After a long night of trails and below 0 weather the "NERDY" ones sure would feel nice!!!
Just kidding, its all personal preference.
try a google images search if youre only going for looks.

I tried checking google images, but they all are stock photos. I was wondering if someone could post a pic of their shield and say what size they have?!

here's my sled it has the low windy on ;)!

This is the medium sized one. Works good for keeping the wind off you.

I believe this is the 13.5" (or was it the 11" - I can't remember). It's MUCH warmer than the stock black one, which IMO is useless.

I can meassure it if need be.

When I was running SRX's I had a few different ones (heights and colors), you can change them in a minute. Keep an eye on craigstlist and swap meets, etc...
I will see if I can find pictures.

You want the 13.5" one. I agree, the stock one is completely uselesss. I am also looking to upgrade to a taller one. Try ebay.

i run the stock one and while it looks good, you better have a good pair of gloves or hand guards because sooner or later frost bite or nip will visit you. dont ask me how i know.....

I like my shorty. If my hands get cold I turn up the warmers. Just cant turn em up too much or I get burnt. My Klim gear takes care of the rest.

Tall windshields are for old men.

I have like 11 or 12 for the 4 srx's I have for swapping around. 98-99 are different than 00-02. I like the look of the "mid" windys. The low windy acts like a funnel when busting trails and drifts. Any snow coming up over the hood ends up coming up the winsheild and right into your face!

Let's just say old-er men... that like to go fast-er.

Never had issues with my hands getting cold but the shorty brings the cold air right up under my helmet. I'll slap it on when on the lake racing but the tall one goes back on for trail riding.

I sometimes ride in -30 to -35 C weather with the windchill -45 to -55 C. Coupled with the windchill created by going 100 miles an hour, I do not care how hard you ride, frost bite usually sets in, tough guys.

How are tall windshields any faster? Not that it matters cause, I don't know anyone who can ride 100mph through a corner. I would think the shorter one would be faster once you tuck in behind it.

Maybe you meant tall windshields are for fatt-er people?

I think alot would depend on the shape of the windy as opposed to the height. The low windys are pretty imposible to "tuck behind". Some have a rolled edge/lipped area and others dont. All about the aero-dynamics.
