Do I have to remove the stator to split the crankcase? I have a good crank, I just want to split the case to clean it. If you have any tips or recommendation on splitting the case, please provide?
Never split a case on one of those but chances are yes you will have to remove the stator and flywheel to split the case. Usually on most motors there is a place you can pry the cases apart with a screwdriver/etc. one you have the bolts removed.

YES YOU DO. TOTALLY DISASSEMBLE. TWO TIPS, WHEN PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER.
1. A TOUCH OF RED LOCKTITE ON TOWEL PINS WHERE CRANK SEATS INTO CASE.
2. YAMA BOND 4 AROUND CASE HALFS. 3:16 (yammie tony)
