hello my father just got a viper mountain from a guy at work seems to be running just fine but it does not have reverse and since he is 65 he kind of cant lift it to turn it around, that being said i was wondering how hard it is to add reverse to a sled ? is it just a chain case swap and how hard would it be to do ? also would it have to be out of another viper or is there any other yamahas that i could get it from ? i belive it is a 2004 ? not sure it is a 2000 and sumthing lol any help is welcome

There's one on Ebay right now for $350. It's fairly easy. Several of us on here have done it. If you pick one up give me a message and I can talk you thru it. Gil

The Viper Mountain gearing is more than likely different from the gearing in the regular Viper. Just be aware of that when looking for a reverse kit so you find the correct gears or close to it.

could i change the sprockets in the one i get for the ones i have ? and what about adding electric start is that an easy swap too ??

If you do go with reverse your pretty much stuck with reg viper gearing. You can chang the top gear to help correct the difference but im thinking your dad is trail riding this sled so i dont see it making a big difference for him. I will be riding stock viper gearing on my newly extended vipers also. Will be on trail most of the time. Electric start is a breeze, all the wiring is there for ya, pretty muchplug and play. There is a e start on ebay also right now for a great price. Chris

so what al do i need to make this happen .. i went to a wreckers this weekend and the guy opened the hood looked under the hood of what i think was an old venture and said ya i have one but no case? it was just a couple gears in a bag with probably the chain .. can u use the stalk case in this case ? or i think he might have had the front of the case but not the back half if that matters

Just looked at my my girls 2004, and if I wanted to add it to my older Viper I would have to cut a notch out in the hood, that's the only thing that stopped me.
