I have a ported/head cut down 01' SRX 700 that is running hot. It's reaching 150 degrees running down the hard pack at speed. My big problem is when I come into town and slow down it climbs to 185 or so. What temp should I become concerned about, is 185 alright? I am full of coolant and all my heat exchangers are getting hot. Is it possible that I have an air pocket but it is still circulating?
do you get the temp light?? If not and all the exchangers are getting warm..I woudnt worry about it....did you refill it??? DId you mix the anti-freeze with water??

I have a racepack UDX and it has a temp gauge and a warning light that comes on at 172 degrees. My highest temp today was 190 degrees in town. If this is normal I won't worry about it, I haven't hit 200 yet. Yes all the exchangers are getting hot and coolant is mixed 50/50. Is there a coolant that will keep it cooler?
if its marginal snow and you are driving slow, I don't find it that uncommon to see higher temps....also if you have to much anti-freeze and not enough water you will see heat changes as well.

i think most liquid engines 2 or 4 stroke operate well at 180-190

Thanks guys, I'm not so worried anymore. I may order Benders tunnel cooling system for big bores during the off season just for peice of mind, but I think I'm alright for the rest of the season.
