"Hot Rods" Crank Kits?

may be the wrong department but figured a few more and quicker responses up here vs the bike section.

long story short, got home tonight and the kid says his bike is locked up. figured cooked piston. just finished the teardown and diagnosis and found kid lunched the crank in his yz today. money being tight for him(and dad), we were looking at some alternatives to my typical oem theory for parts and ran across these hot rod products as well as some wiseco kits.

anyone have any first hand experience with these kits or even the wiseco stuff? considerable savings in kit form vs oem parts.

The hot rods are very nice I have used them for years no problems.

I have used Wisecos in ALLOT of engines, never had a problem. I have tried a few other less expensive brands and I was not happy. Never ran any HOTROD parts. I have also been dissappointed with cheap gasket kits.

wiseco crank kits or just the top end parts? the wiseco crank kits are slightly cheaper than the hot rods kits. just looking for the best bang for the buck.

and since case splitting is so labor intensive, didnt want to put inferior parts in there.
 
I know a few years ago they started manufacturing hotrods complete cranks in Asia and the quality went downhill afterwards (Yamaha PWC cranks anyways).

I had good luck with the rod kit I installed in a bike a couple years ago though.
