I recently purchased a set of intake boots off flea bay for my 2000 mountain max. They are crazy tight! They have ch printed on the side, so I assume they are the correct boots, but what a battle to get them on. Can they shrink? Or get old and loose all flexibility? They look good. They are not cracked or feel really hard, but they were really tough to get on. Any thoughts? Thanks

airbox to carb? tight is right! if they are new and never been installed, its always a tight fit. just a light wipe of premix from the tank will usually make them slip right on.

supple, never. overly rigid is usually a sign of typical aging rubber. unless they were exposed to some severe elements, i have never seen one really go bad on the newer sleds short of a tear. (newer meaning after about 97), unless they came from the midwest or right coast.

depending on what they actually came off of or if your carbs are stock or not, remember the 600 sleds in triple format ran a slightly smaller carb.

i may have an extra set of boots laying around that are actually from the 700 triple with 33mm carbs. if you have a way to accurately measure we can compare or they can be available cheap if you need them.

just make darn sure they are completely wrapped around the carb and properly oriented into the airbox if you choose to rune what you have.

Nice to hear from you

These are the intake manifolds. Between the carberators and reeds. They were crazy tight to get on the carbs. I wondered if there were carbs that were smaller. I looked on line and the 600mm seemed to have the same Sku number as the 700 intake manifolds. So I am stumped as to why they are soo tight. I had another mm before this one. And the boots were not this tight. I was just curious. I will try some oil on them and see if they go on better. If not I may hit you up about intakes. ( I know from your response that you were thinking these were the boots from the air box,and to the carbs, so you might not have these parts) Thanks

tight is right. if they were new or low miled or even if they lacked in repeated carb removals and installs, sounds like you got some good ones.

both boots on either side of the carb can be likened to the female anatomy in terms of usage.
