How does the chain case come off?

The track was junk and I cut it off. I am now trying to pull the chaincase off so I can get the drive axel out. The gears are off and I have all the bolts out of the chain case, and can get it to move out about a quarter inch and wiggle it back and forth a little, but...something is preventing it from coming out.

It looks like it is the piece in back of the rotor that is preventing the chain case from coming towards me when I pull on it.

I have the brake caliper and parking brake cable out. Do I need to take out the circle clip from the top and bottom shafts to pull it out?
