Just started working with my track usa rail extensions. They take a little work but the fit is flawless. Really liking the look of the tip ups. My question is if i should move the 2 inner boggies that are in the center mounted on the shaft to the back of the original rail back mount hole where the new extension meets the old rail. I see hartman does this on their long track kits. The holes measure out to the same height just have to make the new mount hole bigger. Im thinking some boggies right there at the tip up would hel with hyfax wear. What do you guys think? Any help would be great.

Added a quick pic of where they are mounted and where im thinking of moving them like hartman does.

your thinking is correct. i do similar on all my long tracks. based on what i suspect your riding conditions will be, the more wheels in the skid the merrier unless your concerned with weight. based on a self drawn conclusion on riding conditions east or midwest.

along with ice scratchers(a necessity in my book), for the crispy winters between storms or the mornings in the spring when everything is iced up, i will run the extra wheels. easily removed/installed when needed or not needed.

i have also relocated the bogies with the rail mounts strategically throughout the skid. sometimes an alteration to either the mount or the rail is needed.

I was just thinking about this after I wrote my last post. I didnt add any to mine. I kept them in the original location. I have taken off my slides when they are about through toward the fronts. The backs look like they are at least 50% left. I think you will be fine either way. Most of the hyfax wear is up front anyway.

Chris, If you end up adding wheels let me know I have 4 extra black wheels with newbearings already installed. You can have, then you'd just need the shafts.Let me know they are yours. Gil

Thanks for the offer gil. Still waiting on some small parts to start putting the skids together. Ill let ya know what route i go and if i need the wheels. You da man!

My pleasure Chris, you've helped me out so much it's the least I can do. We ARE gonna get some rides in this year!

I have built a few of these in variations and found, from my last one, the wheels should be on the outside of the rail at this point. The reason is for cornering. It has the effect of narrowing up the rear of your sled in a corner if you have no wheels outside. There is nothing for the weight to press against other than the slide that is only about 5inches away from center. Not much leverage. The rear wheel on tipped up rails become useless for holding sled from tipping in a corner. You need the wheel just in front of the bend at the outside. Very easy to do with a set of idler mounts. You can put wheels on the inside as well on that shaft if you want, just thread the outer bolts into the shaft instead of a nut. The center shaft at this point with outer wheels is kind of over kill though unless your making a road runner.
are you going to set your rear arm back as well or leave it where it is?. If your going to move it to 136 location, you can do some great fixes with the front wheels to make the sled never where slides.

Thanks for the advice! I put the wheels right at the bend as you said. It turned out very nice. Im leaving the rear arm as is for now till i get a chance to ride it. But everyting works as it should and cycles through the full range of travel. Ill do the skid set up once im closer to winter. Thanks again BTV, snowdad4, and everyone else for the help!
