Got an RX1 fixed sheave to install on my SRX primary. Now it is weird that this sheave doesn't have the tapped holes where the starter ring would attach, since I have made a grunt tool that screws into those holes.Didn't the RX1have electric start..confused here. This sheave just has the 3 holes further inward as well as all the other clutch's I have.SO I had to make a new grunt tool to tightened the sheave back on.Cut a 1/4 inch plate, drilled 3 holes to match the 3 on the sheave.Got 5/16" SS screws and attached them.PU a 36" bar with 3/4" socket end.Found a large nut and welded it to the center of my plate and got a 1- 5/16" socket by 3/4" that went over the nut and welded that all around.A little paint to hide my messy welding(lol) This works way better then my other grunt tool.It is because when I tightened plates to the back of the sheave( with my other grunt tool setup) that one of the bolts that go in the ring gear holes went in to much and pushed into the sheave to much and deformed the face ....Now I will just use this set up now on..live and learn.....

to remove the fixed sheave on the primary clutch in order to change the bushing and plastic guides .It is called a Grunt tool. You can buy them, but made one cheaper.SRX500kid said:i am confuse on what this crazy device you invented dose blue?

good enough I say..thanks.Had to come up with something to get the sheave tightened back up.I have a mig welder but have never used gas with it.Makes the welds a little rough, but for all the welding I have done in the past 3 years, nothing has come apart.Love them migs..super1c said:Looks good blue!

oh ok now i get the idea!
Yes the RX-1 would've had electric start, but if it's like the Apex it has a starter motor in a completely different spot. The Apex motor is not started with a starter motor on the primary sheave like the 2 strokes used. No starter rings on the clutches.

Wow I haven't been on here in a while. Blue the starter ring won't be on the back of the fixed sheave because the Rx1's Clutch isn't bolted directly to the crankshaft, it is actually on a seperate gear reducted shaft.
