I'm considering new front shocks for my viper as I am replacing the rear skid with a pro x. What length should I look for as I figure I will need to install the brackets from an earlier v-max (if I'm not mistaken). Would ohlins from an SRX work? Or is there a better option out there? I would like the ohlins from a viper s but they are hard to come by and usually pretty expensive. Any suggestions?

I'd leave the stock Viper shocks before I used SRX ohlins. You'd be going the wrong direction there. there are a few people here that have done different things with the front of their Vipers hopefully they will chime in. I dont think SRX shocks would be the way you'd want to go

Floats are a good option, in order to get them to work correctly you need longer raduis rods to to modify the mounting bracket, olhins for the viper would be your best bet, direct bolt on but are very pricey. I would the stock shocks revalved with stiffer springs and call it a day.

Not sure about travel but overall length of rx1 shocks are 15" which is about 2" shorter than a stock viper. May still b ok if u are relocating the mounting location with them upper shock mounts. Next thing is that any a arm sleds (except phazer), the mount on the shocks are a little wider than the proaction ones were, u can narrow em up a little so they fit in the trailing arms and use the bushings from a phazer gt, they are the right size u need.

Since I am in the same situation with my viper,(ohlins hard to come by) I am thinking of just doing the revalving by bruce at pioneer. Anything else I've had him do it made quite a difference. I may try finding some different springs that are straight rate instead of the progressive springs on stock vipers.

Springs off any rev shocks or firecat shocks will work. Mine are off a rev x model which has stiffer springs and i've put springs off a firecat sno pro on my dad's viper in the past, much needed improvement. My shocks are also revalved via pioneer and they are the best option i've used yet. I've put a set of floats on previously but ran into issues with the swaybar hitting the trailing arm because the shocks were too long dropping the trailing arm down far enough to come into contact with the swaybar. You can modify the v max mounts to position the top bolt of the shock higher to at the same level as the factory hole but you will need to weld some plates to the v max mount and drill new holes, personally i think the revalve and new springs works far better. Good luck with you decision.

Any idea what them springrates were? Also wondering what floats u used, seems there would have to something that would match up. Some are as short as like 15.5" I thought, could be wrong though. Other than that problem did the floats feel good? I have wondered about using some but im not totally sold on the feel of them on my rs nytro so I have held off.
