I picked up a very cheap decent shape Exciter II that runs, but not that well. It revs up when the track is elevated, but when on the ground it doesnt move that well. It seems to run way too rich in the PTO cylinderI checked the carbs and clutching and found no apparent issues, except it has mismatched carbs. One (mag side) appears to be correct for the machine, the other (PTO side) is not (no TORS or coolant connection). Its still a VM38, and has the correct needle, jets, etc. I did notice, however, that theres a different number on its slide. It has a 2.5, while the other has a 3. What do these numbers mean and would this affect how it runs?
Ok, I probably should have spent some more time googling this, because the answer was not that hard to find. I determined that this number is the "cutaway" and a larger cutaway lets more air through, and is therefore leaner. Would a cutaway of 2.5 vs. 3.0 be that much richer to make the sled bog at clutch engagement (4k rpms)?

The quick and easy answer is NO!
