Hi guys i'm new to this but hope you can help me out. I have a 1988 yamaha phazer deluxe 485 i have gone through 2 tracks and i don't want to buy another i decided i could put a longer one on for better powder performance. Should i keep the 116" skid, buy a new track and put drop brackets for better traction, should i swap the whole rear for a 121" from a phazer ll or should I just go for a 136" sc4 from a ski doo, i hear it bolts right in? also what should i do to make tunnel extensions for it that look good but don't break my bank. Thanks guys.

I have my doubts that a sc4 bolts right in. maybe, but that would be one heck of a coincidence. I have a phazer that I'm planning to do something similar with. I'm planning on getting either a 136 doo or poo skid myself.

i doubt anything would be a direct bolt in, not even the 121 skid from the pz II's, been there, done that.
skid relocate is the standard in my opinion, if your on a budget. replacement of the skid if you want to factor in a skid cost. all the same as far as what it takes to get a longer track under there. i have the dimensions for relocating the stock skid or adding a pz II 121 skid.
for the tunnel extension, i have mine custom made as per my dimensions at the local metal supplier. anyone with material and a bender can do one. averages me around $75-$80 for the extension. next on your list will be the bumper. if stock look isnt a concern, make your own.
another option for maintaining a stock appearance with only some minor work is try and find an oem extension from the 91-98 pz ST models. needle in a haystack, but they fit well.
more info if needed.

I put a x10 skid from a 98 rmk in a 90 Phazer II last year. I know the II is a 121 vs your 116, but I think the tunnels are the same width, but I had to narrow the x10 by about 1/2 inch. You might have to do that with just about any newer skid you use. It wasn't nearly as hard as it sounds. The rmk skid is a 133" But I moved it back some to use a 136". The ride is really great, I LOVE IT!! Anyway, for a tunnel extension I cut up an old tunnel. And to make the bumper work I added some tubing to make it longer. I have some pictures posted on the site.

Sorry about that. I have fixed the link now.
I just bought a 90 Phazer2 for my son teh other day. I was looking to upgrade the rear suspension since the skid is in bad shape. Is there another skid with better shocks available for this sled? Also, what can I do to this sled to get more hp?
