I just talked to the guy that has an 02 SRX for sale,it was set up as a drag racer, and I asked him a couple of questions about the sled I forgot to ask him the first time I talked to him.First off the track has to be changed to a trail one as it has a speed track with chisles now and I'll have to buy a set of front shocks. The cylinders are trail ported but the heads are stock which gets me to my first question;is it possible to run the sled with the dcs just unplugged from the knock sensor? That's what he said he did but I would think you would have to jumper something wouldn't you?Otherwise the dcs light would be flashing or the timing might be screwed up wouldn't it?I'm just speculating here because I've had zero experience with dcs.
Secondly the heatexchangers all have to be riveted back on and I'm not sure if the steel rivets I have are strong enough;just how strong a rivet should I use?

This all hinges on me buying the sled but I'd like to know so I can make my descision as to whether I consider buying it or not.

If you buy it I've got stock shocks I'd let go really cheap or a set of ohlins I'd let go for a fair price. I also might be interested in that speed track depending on condition. could maybe work out a trade of some sort.

If you simply unplug it, you will more than likely get a fault code.
What you could do, is to "blind" it. I think it works by grounding it to the water rail, then stuffing it away somewhere and ziptying it. I have a lot of experience with the dcs, do not hesitate to ask. I took my sled from 165 km/h on speedo to 200 km/h on the speedo, when I learned how to deal with it.

Stagg if I decide to buy it I would definitley be interested in the Ohlins and if the track is what your looking for we sure should be able to work something out.

Norwegian all I know about the dcs on the sled is what he told me last night and that he drag raced the sled with the thing unplugged.I'm only guessing that he must have grounded as you say or bypassed it somehow but what I really want to know is by doing this it wouldn't screw up the cdi or mag would it?This guy says he can start it if I want to hear it,absolutely, but it would be one of those things that I'd hate to get it home and have the cdi crap out on me.

Unless its a SMOKING deal I myself would shy away from it. Unknown issues with DCS, change track, change shocks, put heat exchangers back on.......sounds like ALOT of work to me.

The work to put it into a trail sled doesn't really bother me I've had my 98 apart from stem to stern at one point or another so changing tracks etc isn't that big a deal.I'd be pulling the skid to go over the bushings and all anyway so the rest won't take much longer. The biggest thing I like about this sled that keeps bringing me back to it is the fact it only has less than 600 miles, yeah I know they are put on like 660 ft at a time but still.
