Hey guys my srx is eating belts it does have a bender clutch kit on it but ive had no problems with it doing this in the past could this be an alignment issue and is the supposed to be a brass bushing where the belt rides on the primary at an idle an the belt is just wearing on the cogs thanks in advance

First thing with eating belts is alignment and belt tension. Where does it sit in the secondary? Also check your motor mounts. Did one loosen up or break, not common on srx but worth a look. Not sure what ya mean about brass bushing?

The belt did sit kinda high in secondary it is a new belt with maybe 200 miles on it an seemed a bit tight my mounts look good would it help if i put washers on back side of secondary plate to loosen the belt an thought there was a brass bushing on the primary shaft between the clutch plates but maybe not
Id say your center to center is off

you getting any squel. YOU HAVE TO CHECK CENTER TO CENTER AND DEFLECTION. TWO THINGS CAUSE BELT DAMAGE, MISS ALIGNMENT AND HEAT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Actually, adding the washers will make the belt tighter/ride higher in the secondary. Removing the washers allow the screw to essentially push the secondary sheaves apart
Are you sure your mounts are ok?? my SRX sheared off the motor mount bolts that hold it to the motor, kind of hard to catch if your not looking closely.

check the bolts themselves too. the tips often wear off which would cause your belt deflection to be too tight.

all valid points but looking at pic bottom of belt looks worse than top. I would checking alignment first. Belt is new, 200 miles on it, was it the exact same one that was on it before? Different brand/model may have slight varience.

Ok finally had some time to check things over center to center is good mounts are good took washers out of secondary belt sits bout flush but still seems to tight its a Yamaha belt is there a chance belt is defective i had it on stand an started it up an at 1000 rpms track is going around hit brake an let off takes off again never did that before could it be something in clutch

Did you check the jackshaft bearings? Also make sure the engine isn't able to move. Then belt alignment. It does look like an 8DN belt, is it the -00 or the -01 ?
Then check secondary and spring out real well. Which holes are the spring in?
How about the secondary bushings (check with the spring removed).

The jackshaft seems ok when i grabbed primary i was able to move the motor a little up an down a little bit didn't seem like enough to throw anything off the belt is an -01 is there a big difference between the -00 belt an the -01
