Hey guys,
Pulled the skid out of my Viper tonight. First thing I checked was the top w arm shaft and bushings. Both end bushings are not worn at all and the shaft has no wear. When I pulled the shaft out of the top tube there was an extra bushing sleeve just off center on the shaft (just to the left of the grease fitting). The right side of the shaft had nice fresh grease and the left side had nasty gray grease. Basically that mystery bushing sleeve has been preventing most of the grease from reaching that left side end bushing. Wish I had a pic of it but hopefully you understand what I'm talking about.
My guess is the previous owner had the bushings replaced in the skid and this is the sleeve from an old bushing. But figured I'd see if anyone had ever seen this before.
Thanks

Sounds like the tab wore off and whoever did it just pushed the new one in forcing deeper. I have mine all apart too. Rebuilding and polishing/painting.

I know a lot of guys that cut the end off and run 2 bushings on each side. More of the shaft supported by bushing making the shaft tighter in the w arm. I run my w arm and shaft this way and also the carrier wheel h arm and shaft this way. Never had a issue of grease not getting to the whole shaft .

It could have been an old one that got pushed in like above. I've seen something similar to that on my 97 SX. Pulled a shaft and found the bushing in there. Usually just the tab wore off the end like Fro mentioned.

Thanks and new question

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. Another quick question. Got my top shaft in that the transfer rods and large idler wheels connect to. Still have about 1/8 inch of play side to side. I'm guessing the only way to tighten it up is to slip a tube over the shaft onto to bearing race and pound that slop out of it. Advice on that??? Don't want to ruin anything.
Other than that, only bushings bad were ones without grease fittings. Bushings are on order and gotta get some grease fittings.
Thanks again.

Cant get the slop out. Still remains just that 1/8 inch. My solution was going to find some large fine washers and shim it out. Just havent got to it yet.
