thinking about doing a conversion to a 144x1.25x15 track and putting about 200 studs in it. What kind of speeds do you think ill see? will i keep up with my buddys mountain cat 1000 with a 144x2 track?

noone has any ideas as to how fast a 144" srx will run? I know I've seen people on here with them.
If I had to guess I would say mid 90's and I don't think you'll keep up with the 1000 maybe for a little bit then the HP from the 1000 will kick in

I top out at around 170 km/h on speedo with my 144 x 1.5 track with an M-10 skid. Engine is stock but it is geared down quite a bit. Gets there is a hurry though.

To turn that much track and have it pull well all the way through, you're going to want to gear for only about 85-90mph top end. It all depends on what you're after. Putting a 144 on would tell me that you're looking for better performance off the trail...so why would you care about top end? Keeping up with a M1000 is a tall order for your sled. Very simply, it weighs 100lbs less and has more HP. You can make improvements to your sled, but we need to know what you're after exactly.
My mountain viper stock will hit 80 to 85 mph (and 90 sometimes) with a 144 track. Is it safe to say that when you're talking about off trail a stock mountain viper and mountain SRX (converted of course for track) are about equal?
I was wondering the same question that started this thread. I was thinking of picking up an SRX and throwing a viper mtn 144 track on it. But I'm wondering if that defeats the purpose of the SRX. To me an SRX is best suited and shines with a short track and on trails. For all the mtn SRX guys, is my thinking correct?

The sled my buddy has is not an m1000 its the 2001 thundercat MC 1000 it weighs like 590lbs so its heavy! not looking to do a ton of off trail more looking for the better ride comfort and happen to have a 144 skid and track laying around. I do from time to time get into the deep stuff but its still mostly trail riding. Anyone ever ride with a thundercat mc 1000 before? anyone know how fast they are. I just dont want to be left way behind him always playing catch up
