Hi all, looking for quick help on how to remove the seat to get to fuel filter on 2000 SX700R. I appreciate the help.
2 nuts in the trunk of the seat. 2 snaps on each side up front. Pull back the lip of the seat where it meets the gas tank and there is a stretchy rope thing that connects to a couple screws. Just lift it over each one. Lift up back of the seat, unhook taillight, slide seat to the back and you are done.

Isn't the fuel filter in the tank like other Yamahas? I'm not familiar with that model.

No need to take seat off, the filter is in the tank. Should be on the end of a piece of fuel line that you can just fish out of the tank with a coat-hanger, or piece of wire. Just be careful not to mess up the fuel-level sending unit, it's also in there.

Do yourself a favor and get a longer piece of fuel line for in the tank. The stock line lets you get the filter just most of the way out of the filler neck and it's a real bear to change the filter. 3 more inches of fuel line makes it an easy 10 minute job the next time you do it. Gil
