Since I got my 02 SRX I noticed that there is a slight delay from when the engine starts to when all the electronics turn on. I believe this is to make starting easier by removing the electrical load on the generator.
However on a few cold mornings throughout the winter I noticed when I started it there were no electronics for almost 2 minutes??? It was sitting there idling with no lights, tach etc. The first time it happened I thought I had a loose connection but then they randomly turned on. The second time I watched without touching anything.
Anyone else experience this with there SRX?
The temp in the morning was probably around -18 Deg C or 0 Deg F.

must have a bare wire some where grounding everything out.Better pull the harness from under the motor and inspect. Also under the handlebar pads is another place to check for wires and grounding.Mice tend to like nesting in the handle bar foam pad.Mine did years back and chewed on some wires as well that was grounding to metal..
When I start mine, the tach comes on instantly and the light flash's 3 times right away on the red DCS lens in middle of dash.Check your wires.

I'm pretty sure it's one of the relay's fault. Next time, start it up, and shut it down when you have some underhood temp. Start up again and voila, the lights are there, because the relay is warm.
Common thing in cold.

Ah I see, looks like there are 2 load control relays which are probably just time delay relays. It looks like power still goes to the YPVS, the 2 condensers and the battery though.
I have never had any more then a momentary delay on my 2002 SRX and that is in temps from near -40c to + temps.
It may be time to replace or carry a couple of relays as it seems to me one or both are acting up.
Also as Blue says check for frayed wires although I have found that usually shows up in the Tach not working or irratic.

Thanks guys, it seems that the load control relays may need to be replaced. I don't think I have any shorting issues since it doesn't act up any other time.

My '01 had one of the load control relays recalled. Well, maybe it wasn't a recall (I wasn't notified) but my buddy that bought new the same time I did came back from a service visit to our dealer with one for his SXR and one for my SRX.
Did you add e start to your SRX? I just added it to my Viper S and I noticed if the motor was idling upon startup and it idled and sputtered some below 1200 nothing came on. Perhaps a reference voltage must be present on DCS models before firing electrical components with a battery?

Yes I added e-start but it ran perfect, no sputtering or anything, just no lights or tach. It was just on 2 or 3 cold mornings where the overnight temp was about -27 deg C.SXRider7Hundo said:Did you add e start to your SRX? I believe this feature was on all the sleds with the dual headlight, not just models with dcs.
Hmmm... Well the sputtering I was referring to is like if you didn't choke it quite enough, like I tend to do while warming it up. But if it's cold I'm sure it takes her a minute or two to fire... My brand new car did that last year when it actually got pretty cold... Kinda apples and oranges but nonetheless....

Oh I see what you mean, yah I believe it is a certain rpm the engine needs to reach before the electronics turn on. I think it's around 700 rpm.
My 01 srx does this when it's very cold out, I was told to take out the relays and set them on the heat register in the house over night and dry them out. And that has sloved the problem for me. There are two of them above your left foot well.

yep ,moisture in them and then they freeze and stock, just warm em up overnight on the register and they seem to work fine the rest of the year unless you wash the sled alot and it builds up moisture on them again.

Had the same thing happen to me after a cold night. Started it up and no tach, lights ect... After a few minutes of running everything was fine. I did go through a big pile of slush the night before on the way back across the lake. Good to know what caused it now, and how to fix.

Put em in a bag of rice. I'll suck all the moisture out in a week fer sure.
Holly sh!!!!!!!t. I just realized what the heck I wrote. I meant to put a t after the I or before the apostrophe. Hence making it.....It'll. One little tiny missing letter and everyone throws me under the bus. I'll be waiting.
