Hey guys, I was able to modify the stock Viper rear exchanger to work with a Hartman tunnel extension. I had to modify the exchanger & tunnel a bit, but did not have to cut off the tubes & rotate. Ask me if you guys have any questions about doing this, it will save you some $$.

We also have the Hartman extension on the Viper, However I don't remember any modifications to either the Heat exchanger or the extension. We installed the SRX exchanger when we added the extension. ??? Al

I didn't use a SRX exchanger though, this was the one already on my viper. There was no way to install it without modification.

just ordered my ext kit from hart today for the viper. im under the impression everything i need is in the kit. in conversation i dont recall him mentioning any mods needed as you describe to the tunne and cooler. .. im capable but i guess i will have to see what is involved when i get to doing kit.

how did this 136 change the ride from the stock 121 viper?? was it 'eh' .. or 'now i dont feel so bad dropping a grand' .. ripsaw 125 unstud, partial clip.

curioius to see what this sled will feel like after riding it 121 for that last 5000 miles. not to mention a new damn track (begone your cone-junk)

In the process of extending the viper with Hart's 136. Coming along pretty good but buring the candle at both ends .. managed to mod the tunnel and cooler to fit..

Will I need to drop the skid like some have done?? I was under the impression I can pretty much install what comes with the kit.. nothing mentioned about new plates to lower the skid.. or at least Im pretty sure I didnt see anything in the paperwork.kit about it.. hmmm (was hoping to get back on the trail this weekend with our anymore set backs... ) ..

quite a process no doubt.. prob should not have begun this project in the middle of the season.. BUT i couldnt help myself for tying the viper with a different personality..

not exactly per instructions as you can see with the bumper.. pretty much defeated the bumper support after I drilled out for the cooler.. hind sight I should have mounted the cooler first BEFORE putting it on the original tunnel and not done this whole thing at this time.. sigh

So did you get the extensions & relocation kit? Sounds like you did if you got plates with it. If you did, that will stretch it to a 144, not 136. If you just got rail extensions, then you will be fine and do not need to move the skid.

I tried drop brackets. Didn't like how the sled handled with them on so I removed them.

Why is the exchanger in the middle of the tunnel ext? Looks like the track could hit it in a hard tail landing.Or is it just an optical illusion?

I installed mine right to the back of the tunnel ext.

Good question about it being ahead some... well I thought about it and wondered the same .. I saw the holes for the crossover tube and figured since they were there, I could use them .. scooping the bottoms of those holes to accept the cooler tubes.. .. also considered if the cooler was all the way at the back it might be suseptible to damage from someone grabbing it accidently.. even though there is the bumper.. .. probably would never have happened though. .. then i believe the bumper wold have run into the cooler tubes.... yours tunnel extension appears to be a little different .. perhaps i should have used the factory rear face of the tunnel as well...

I was wondering about hitting but I took a gamble in that I could use the funny shaped holes where the crossover tube was supposed to go.. .

i will have to check clearance again tonight .. it 4 am and uuuugh. i got to go to work...

AIR RIVET gun would have been a great investment. my hands are al already beat from crimping electrical connections for a day job.. didnt need to ruin them on a rivit gun. lol. now i feel like a rock climber lol

Bingo, I used the existing holes instead of swiss cheesing new holes in, plus the rear bumper mounts on the inside of the extension, which would have caused clearance issues. It is only like 2 inches or so from the back, but there is plenty of clearance to the track. I have had some hard landings & big whoops so far this year, and it hasnt come close to hitting.
