Parking brake....... remove it or not?

Who has taken the parking brake off their sled?I bought another SRX yesterday that was a drag sled and to lighten it up the guy had a lot of unnecessary stuff removed like heat exchangers and parking brake.Luckily I have all this stuff to put back on but am debating whether to mount the p brake or not,I'm trying to go over in my head just when and how much I actually use the one on my 98.Other than hauling the sled on the back of my truck I cant really come up with too many times I really used it.
 
Yes, you have to be more careful where you park on a hill (usually to help dig somebody else out LOL). There are times I really wish I still had it. But then there are the times I wish I didn't have it, like the time I was being filmed by Dobson and had my brake on all the way up the hill. No wonder it was so doggy.
 
A parking brake has cost me two belts on my viper. Both times it happened like this "hey man, you want me to unload your sled?" "sure". I go out to get on my sled and sure enough, flat spot... I have powermadd hand guards on it now. the bracket will let the brake hold, but it wont let it go to full "on" possition.
 
Transportingis the only time I ever use any of mine. The 01 srx I recently picked up doesnt have the handle. When the PO put on the handguards he couldnt figure out how guards went on with handle still there and had lost the handle/lever. Irritates me cuz I think it looks goofy, even though I dont ever use it.
 
i find i use mine a lot on hills although i did take off with it on last year so i had to readjust it for the ware i put on it ooops!!! probably need a new belt to now
 
I've gone out of my way to make sure i HAD working parking brakes on all my sleds! The main reason is for a startup runaway. Happens a lot more frequently than people would admit, but for whatever reason the throttle butterfly might freeze open, or the cable might stick, etc... Go to yank the rope, and your sled starts on the first pull, at full throttle! Having a parking brake engaged at that point will destroy the belt fairly quickly, but it will also save your sled and possibly a life.

A working TORS will also stop that from happening. I took my parking brake off a couple years ago, and don't miss it at all.
 
My parking brake saved my sled from plowing into trees on several occasions, or at least slowed it down enough to keep serious damage from happening.
