I am trying to change my grips (stock to stock) on my 99 SRX and there is a silver pin that goes through the handle bar that holds the grip on.
It looks like you might be able to use an Allen key to loosen the pin, but after trying metric Allen keys nothing torques it...how do you get them off to swap out?
Thanks...

Its a rivet and you need to drill through the center of it. I went to the hardware store and found an exact replacement. It helps to keep the stress off the grip glue I guess.

X3 Rivet. You can use a regular drill bit (be careful) or buy the drill bit for removing rivets, has collar that doesnt let you drill to deep.
Adhesive?
Got the rivet out but they hard plastic grip was fused to the handlebar..I had to chip it away and break it off...
Anyone know what this adhesive is? If it needs to be there to make a good seal from grip to handlebar I want to make sure I use some...

grip glue
Is that anything special? Where do I get some grip glue?
I would think some 2 part permatex plastic epoxy should work fine for that!

I used a 2 part epoxy, but can't remember what heat range was on the pkg..has to be a certain temp so that it won't soften up due to grip heat.
