I'm at a crossroads with the carb setup on my project here.To bring people up the speed I'm updating my 98 to 2000 electronics and I'm kind of in the middle of it all now.I took the carb rack apart to clean up tonight figuring I'd transfer all the new jets I put in my 98 rack last year into the 2000 rack but something made me double check the jetting on the 2000.98 SRX's had the mag side jetted richer where the 2000 has the pto jetted richer;my question is where I'm using the stator from the 2000 should I stagger the jetting according to 2000 specs or stay with the 98 jetting style? Was the reason the pto is richer on the 2000's a result of the hotter ignition vs the 98/99's?

Hi Fourbarrel,

Since I experienced a lean condition/detonation problem on my stock 2000 SRX, I have changed the jetting on both of my 2000 SRX's to the 2001 jetting specs.. With the poor quality of the gas today (poor relative to the true octane rating we want for our mighty 2 stroke engines), I would not rely on the jetting specs to keep you safe. I am using the 2001 jetting specs as a starting point then keeping an eye on the piston wash to tell me if the jetting is OK. (That is if we ever get enough snow again!!!!) Today, slightly rich will keep your engine alive, lean is certain death.

I have also run 2001 jetting in my sleds too. My 98 would burn down with stock jetting. Never had an issue with the 01 jetting. I also run 01 jetting in my 02, these motors like a little extra fuel anyway...

I would also agree with the previous posts that recommend 2001 SRX jetting specs. I would also ensure the vertical dividers are removed from your air box like the stock 2000-2001-2002 air boxes were.[only the 98/99s had the dividers]

Well I may just do that, increase the mains to 01 specs, but I'm still wondering about jetting the mag side on my 98 richer and on the 00-02 it's the pto.Can someone explain why this is?I have the carb rack on my bench right now and if I should stagger the jetting according to the later years I can do that pretty easy right now but as they sit now I staggered the jets the same as 98 specs with the mag side richer.

With the dividers out of airbox and the 2000+ ignition, set the stagger up like the 2001 SRX. Or if you are overly concerned just jet all three cylinders the same using the larger jet in the other two cylinders as well.
