I was checking Ebay for general snomobile parts, I noted that Ski Doo had 69,742 differant listings, Arctic cat had 66,056, Polaris 64,180 and Yamaha had a mearly 42,465. What do you think this says??? I would equate that Yamaha has the least parted out sleds where BRP aka Ski Doo has the most, with Arctic close behind. SKi Doo may also sell the most, not sure though??? Anyway, I thought it was odd how much more parts were available or parted out sleds from BRP aka Ski Doo. Al

The volumes could be due to several factors: the number of parts available could be due to the total number of sleds sold or the total number of frustrated owners who decided to part out the sled rather than repair it or there could be a larger market for some sleds thus driving more selds to get parted out. I would think Yamaha ranks last in the total number of sleds sold so there would be less parts available.

Yamaha's break down less so they intends less demand for parts. That's my .5 cents :P

I part sleds on occation and I can say that you make less money parting Yamaha's in comparison to others. People in the business want to make money so they part what brings the best $.
Reasons are these in my op.
#1 Yamaha's have less problems so the need for parts is less.
#2 Parts for Yamaha's are more year/model specific than the others. Parts from the others on average will fit many more years and models making them usable to a wider group of buyers.
#3 If you ride something other than a Yamaha you need inventory to get you through the season (lol).

My SRX700 has stranded me more times than any other sled I've owned. My SRX has snapped the drive shaft left me stranded, wire rub through left me stranded, and the stator melted and left me stranded. Stranded 3 times where sled had to be towed in 1.5 seasons (can't call last winter a season). Apparently each of these issues are common so I would not say they break down less (though case study of n=1). Maybe others are lucky and got better units.

More people are selling parts on TY, less on Ebay.
