i just got back from a weekend of riding my viper and my back is sore! what will give me the best ride. i currently have updated shocks, fra on soft, rear spring towards the middle, on the front track shock it was mid position and now 3/4 inch past what yamaha recommends as max (didnt notice any change) it never bottomed, i weigh 170 lbs. does a revalve make a huge difference? how does it compare to a rear ohlins clicker, doesnt the viper s have a position sensitive shock? how do these ride? i would rather not spend $600 for an ohlins if i have other options, what is the best thing to do?

Ride The Hell Out Of It. I Have An 02 Viper With Original Shocks With The Fra Set At Soft. The Harder You Ride It The Better It Rides.

One thing to watch for on a pro action is if it is set to soft it will ride ruff even if it is not bottoming out. What happens is that when you get on the sled the set in is to much and you start coupling the suspension right away and you get a rough ride. With the update shocks I would set the center shock at zero preload and preload the shock with the limiter strap. then put the rear back in the middle position on the fra. Then set transfer rods to stock postion. Then get on the sled and see where the gap is on the top and bottom of the transfer rods. If the gap is not the same on top and bottom then adjust the rear spring preload untill you have equal gap top and bottom. This will get the sled into the neutral position and will actual ride softer and then couple when you get into the bigger bumps. If after do this is still ride bad then you may have to look at different valveing or shocks.
