Went to buy a new rifle yesterday. Had it narrowed to down to 3 or 4 guns, and after about an hour I made my decission. Filled out the 3 1/2 pages of paperwork, dropped $900 on the counter and started looking at ammo. Since Im not a felon, I am a US citizen, thought it should be about a 20 minute wait for the "instant background" check. Well after about 30 minutes the lady came and said there was a hold on it. Might be as long as a 10 day wait. Long story short, I removed my $900 from the economy and went home.
Guess I must have neen on some kind of Republican suppporter database...
Nice job OBAMA!

Dont know about WI but here in MI if you have a CCW permit it covers all that BS paperwork. 8hrs and $150 and you can walk in and out with your new gun.....Wearing it on your side if you want!

Look at Walker instead. Anyway, that is why we try to keep all of our $'s out of Wisconsin. We spend well over 10k in Michigan each year and an additional 5k in Minnesota. If Wisconsin changes we might go back and spend, but not untill some changes are made. Good luck Al

I highly doubt obama had anything to do with you not being able to buy a rifle. I have a buddy that owns a gun store and they will randomly put holds on people for no reason even if they have bought several guns before and have no criminal background, but usually in a day or two it goes through

Obama and the current administration has plenty to do with the regulations. If only people knew the half of what is trying to be passed behind closed doors.

It is Obamas administration that I have to wait for to get clearance. And it is the Democratic party that champions gun control.
I am already a gun owner, bought my first gun 24 years ago, and several since. If I were going to buy a gun to become a criminal why would I buy a $1000 gun, when there are plenty of others there under $200. And why fill out 2 pages of forms, I qualified on everyone. They can run me through CCAP here in WI and see Im not a criminal. Makes no sense.
They said if I were denied they would have know that in 2 minutes. But they still cant sell it.
We have the right to bear arms, just not buy them I suppose. Just blows my mind....
For the record this was for a bolt action deer rifle, not assault rifle or handgun, that seems to matter to allot of people. If you watch the news, you would think everone gets killed by a AK47.
This has me so mad, I'm joining the NRA today, and will support all pro gun candidates. I hope they "wake a sleepoing giant" on this deal...
How about if the government randomly disabled your car, and said you cant drive for sometime between 2 hours and 10 days. Youve done nothing wrong, and are 100% completely qualified to drive, and have driven for 20+ years. Maybe that would in theory cut down on drunk driving or something? Well driving is a privelidge, gun ownership is written in our constitution. FOR A REASON. These laws will prevent 0 people from getting guns to do bad things, all it accomplished was taking money out of the system, not just the gun, but ammo, licenseing, accessories, might have been over $1200 in the pipeline when it was all said and done, now 0.
This is disgusting what we have given away as citizens!

Yup, I'd just wait the few days and get the gun once it goes through. Yes it sucks to have to wait, but it happens every once in a while. Go get the gun and drop a big one with it next weekend

read up on your clubs before you join, sometimes there is a better one out there though not as well advertised or hyped.

New firearm purchases are Federally regulated which means your state government had nothing to do with the delay.
I spent over 3 hours this past spring waiting for the National "Instant" background Check when purchasing Junior's first 22 at Cabela's.
...yet showing proof of citizenship to cast a vote is just too much trouble.

I agree with betheviper, the NRA has become somewhat of a bloated special interest group in Washington.

Thats wierd, I bought a used police addition px4 for 300.00 last month.Had it shipped to L.L.Bean and within 10 minutes the guy came back with an answer. He thought it would be funny to tell me it was a no go but then winked and said "just kiddin". and away I walked away a great deal on a cool gun. Buds gun shop online is where I found it. Smooth transaction for sure.
