Hey guys, going to do some clutching on my buddies sled for him. Hes got a 99 SRX, stock motor, 192 studs in it with bender transfer rods.... Now heres the kicker lol, he doesnt want to spend a whole bunch money on it lol...

Heres what Ive done so far:

-Rebuilt secondary (new bushings and sliders)
-Rebuilt primary (new bushings)

What Im looking to do is keep the use of the stock weights, and stock helix to save him a few bucks.

I have a set of 8DN-20 weights, weighing in at 51.6 grams total each, and a set of 89A-10 weights, weighing in at 54.1 grams total each. Also have a WWW primary spring, a YWY primary spring.

For the secondary I have the stock 47 helix, and a Red Spring, wrapped at 60

I guess what Im looking for is a good setup using these items, Hes a trail rider, doesnt race, just wants the machine to run like it should

Anybody have any good setups that would get me close on this?? Ive never clutched with the stock Yammy weights, as I have heelclickers on my SRX

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

I have never heard of a good setup for a straight 47 helix. you need to atleast get him a stock helix from an rx or apex.

a good helix if he is buying a used one is 54/44.

again, I cant imagine how you could ever get a stock set of weights to work with a straight 47.

Okay, will definately look into a new helix then. I know on my SRX I run aftermarket Dalton, similar angle as well with the steep start and the shallow finish...

So which weight is better to run? The 8DN weight or the 8YA weight? And which primary spring?

Is there any technical page with the different spring rates/ different weight profiles?

You need to check out the tech section and read some posts buy our old friend Turk clutch set ups. On my 99 SRX 700, I ran a set up from Maxx performance ( Bruce ) now with pioneer and it was great for trail and top end lake runs! good luck

if you use 8dn20's you need a big helix to get the most from it, like a 54/45

the 89a10s are more aggressive and you can use a smaller helix like a 50/44,-49/45

i wouldnt run stock 47 with either unless its a bone stock machine, the aftermarket helix helps alot in the shifting of it.

the w/w/w spring is good with 8dn 20 but your gonna need a helix no matter what.

89a10's would need a g/w/g spring to work in the primary and still a aftermarket heix.

I would suggest the 89A10's over the 8DN-20's. Also the g/w/g spring like Don suggested or the stock y/w/y with an engagement shim. I would also try like a 48/40 or 48/42 helix and green or red at 80deg.

89A- 10 WILL WORK IN THAT SLED. VERY TRAIL ABLE AND STILL FUN FOR LONG PULLS. JUST GET HELIX AND SPRINGS COMBO CORRECT. 3:16 (yammie tony)
