What were 81 SRX Issues ?

I have a friend that recently purchased an 81 SRX for vintage rides. It seems to be in pretty good shape and is fairly low mile. It has the original 440 in it. He is a multi-brand HO, mostly non-Yamahas, so he really has no serious knowledge of the sled. I remember they were supposed to be temperamental with jetting issues and I thought there was some crank issues, but I may be wrong on that. He wants to check everything out to the best he can before snow flies. Were there any updates that may have came out other that giving any owner one hell of a deal to trade out of them? How could we check if any had been done? Any info would be helpful.

First thing is check and see if there is a serial # on the mag housing. Should match the same serial # on the right side of the tunnel. If it is blank then it has had the updates. There was quite a few updates for the 81 SRX. [Clutches,CDI box, Ignition timing, oil pumps, etc]. Just need to be run 6,000 rpm and higher.
