Hey so after 9000k my chain decided to give up on life. Wrecked both my driven and drive sprockets in my chaincase. Now, from what I understand stock on these sleds is a 23 drive and a 39 driven. Anybody have any other better gearing solutions? I am still 121" and 1 1/4 paddles so i dont wanna gear it down too much as it already spins as is. Thanks

Shoot for somewhere around a 2:1 ratio. I'd go 20/40 but a 22/40 is also great. That 22/40 is sounding like what you're wanting. Same amount of total teeth, just shifting 1 tooth from the upper gear to the lower gear.
if its spinning the track now, going 2:1 would make it spin even more.
for efficiency, i would try 22/39 and adjust from there to keep the track from spinning. better track, suspension adjusmtents, studs, etc.
2:1 is good for mountains and longer tracks, not so much for the shorties.

And now that I think about it, Snowdad is absolutely right about that gearing.

Check the 'PAY IT FORWARD' section of the classifieds. Lots of gears there for the price of shipping.

going for a 23/39 which gives me lower drive ratio of 1.695 so in theory i should have a nicer top end as well as less spinning

Reading your first post isnt 23/39 stock?
Drop one tooth on top or go up on on bottom

23/40 is stock, i was misinformed, so i will be going 1 tooth less on the driven which will give me a little more top end and a little less spinning.Devilin AblueDress! said:Reading your first post isnt 23/39 stock?

i have 21/40 on my 1997 vmax 700. it spins a bit much. i have tried 18/40 that spun the track even more, way more. thinking i'll buy a 22 drive sprocket. see how that works out. 600 revs and xc 600 were beating me on top end with the 21/40... lake racing. i killed them at 660 feet
