First of all. Tons of info here. You guys are awesome!
I have a 98 Phazer that I love. When I bought it had a DG pipe on it.
Rode it for a few hundred miles and bammo! Blew a headgasket and took it apart to find the PTO piston melted on exhaust side.

Re-built it. Then took carbs to a Yammie dealer. Found the jets were all stock.
So I took advice from here and went up sizes.
The dealer put in 110 pilots and 152.5 mains

Also at this time put a set of Boyesen dual stage reeds in it.

Soaked the carbs, clean'd them good. Put em back in. Set air mixture screw to 1 1.4 turn out. seems to idle good. decent throttle responseup to midrange.

But doesn't wind out, seems no power only getting 80 kmph out of her. Pulled to 130 before. hits 6500 rpm and stays there weakly. Last year after dialing in clutches had it hittin 7200 ish and pulling hard mid to top.

Is 152 too rich for the main? I am at 300feet above sea level. And where could I buy just jets? I did ask for 150's from the dealer, but he said it listed 147.5 and the next up was 152 for the Phazer SS

well lets start that i my 91 with dg pipe has stock nozzles stock 3A tubes 147.5 mains and 110 pilots and runs just fine and with my clutching goes pretty good for a stocker ................you rich issue sounds like a typical junk boysen reeds ............i know that they are a good reed but i have more problems with them then good .......in the past they have cost me a few motors ....................any fuel with ethonal will kill them and race fuel with hurt them..............i have not had a problem since spending the extra money and running carbon tech reeds
