Can i use a 1998 srx crankshaft in a 2002 srx?
i want to say no, the 2000 and up are differnt then 98 and 99

Anything is possible. But would it be worth the work/hassle? Pretty sure you would have to use 98-99 cases and frankenstein 00+ stator,pick up,flywheel. Prolly easier and better in longrun to get correct crank.
The outside bearing on the clutch side is different. I think it may work if you use the 2002 bearings but they are likely bad if your replacing it. Better off getting one from a 2000 and up. Once way to check for sure is from the yamaha website under the parts schematics. Just check the part numbers.

yes, if you reuse the 2 outside bearings, it will drop right in. They moved the dowel pin location from the 98-99 crank bearings(outsdie only) on the 2000-02 srx, otherwise it will work no problem.
Wow mrviper, I would have thought different. Thanks for the info. Now my question is, what was the reason for the once piece style bearing change form the twin bearing setup. The single must either take more load, OR last longer.

I cant answer that, but it only has a 1pc outer, the inside still has 2 sets of rollers to match up to the race, so maybe its slightly stronger with 1pc outer case?? I have never had a problem with the 98-99 2 pc ones but yamaha thought the 1pc was better so........

You can even use the 98-99 case but have to modifie pick up coil to get closer to flywheel. I have done that. Hey dn what's the big difference in hp from 98-99 srx to 2000 and up. I have a 2000 that grenades rod and wrecked bender ported cylinder. I have found complete 98 mill and was going to install it. But what was real difference in cylinders just port timing. 8dn00 heads must have less compression. The bender ported cylinders were 00 s also so once modded I'm thinking they are the same
