How many pusles in the lighting coil on a 02 Viper for calibrating the RPM? What wax limit on the EGT's and water temp would you guys recommend. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you have to calibrate your RPM. It'll read it when you hook it up. They say not to go over 1200 - 1250 on the EGTs, but it depends on where you have your sensors. I've been told to start worrying when your water temp goes over 200 degrees. My ported SRX runs between 150 and 190 on the trails.
Rpm
You do have to choose the number of pulses per rotation in the lighting coil. That is how the EGT determines RPM. I have been told it is 6 but I just wanted to double check. I have chosen 6 in the set-up but I can't get the RPM to work. Do I have the power hooked up to the wrong wire? I have the yellow and black together hooked to the blue wire with a white tracer up by the lights. Anybody?

I have a racepak UDX and I didn't need to calibrate mine, I just hooked it up to the stock tach feed (1 wire, don't remember the color).

If memory serves me the Viper hookup uses a different wire than the blue wire because of the digital ignition. EGT temps are only relevant on your particular setup. I run my mids at 1000 and my peaks in the upper 1200 and sometime they get into the low 1300...........SRXtreme

Matt,
Hook-up the yellow tach wire to any one of the three white wires coming out of the stator. they are down by the pull starter. I assume you mean the red & yellow hooked together? Black is ground, red and yellow are power wires. I would leave the red hooked to the blue up top, as it is regulated power, and it dosen't matter cause you don't have electric start model, do you? If memory serves me correct it is 6 pulses, just make shure that it's close to the tach on your dash, if your off by one pulse you will know it!

VipertrippleXXX - I was in a rush when I made those posts at work yesterday. You are correct, I have the yellow and red together hooked to the blue/white tracer up by the dash pod. The digital ignition thing explains my problem. Black has a good ground and no I do not have electric start. What you are saying about hooking up to the stator makes perfect sense and I'm sure it will work but what about picking up the signal that runs the tach on the dash pod. Has anyone done this? Seems like you could just tap in up top for that signal too? Anyone? Please?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure on the color but I think it is Yellow with black wire by the dash pod that you can tap into to get the rpm pulse. I have my Advenger III hooked up there and not down by the stator and it works fine. Etheir place should work. I can check to night for you if you want, and send a pic.
