I need to get at my stator and take look because I have an electrical short and suspect the stator maybe the culprit. I got the pipes off and pull cord assembly off and now I'm looking at the stator cover which has 3 allen bolts and then theres the shaft withthe nut on the end. Any tips on removal would be great.

take off the nut and the allen bolts, then use a standard automotive harmonic balancer puller threaded into the 3 allen bolt holes.

Pay special attention to the length/depth of those 3 bolts. If you thread the puller bolts much further then the 3 you took out you will damage stator. By "stator cover" I am assuming your talking about the flywheel.
