Hi guys, very new to the site and to owning Yamaha's. I have a few questions on Vmax's. I found one close by, it's an 2002 Vmax 600 Triple, one owner with 4100 miles, original owner. Seen a picture of it, looks to be in nice shape and well looked after. What should I look for? Anything obvious with this make/model/year? I've been told they are a reliable machine. My cousin who a Nytro and a Phazer said it should be a reliable machine. Any help would be appreciated.

my 2001 SXR600 is very very reliable, can't see why the vmax wouldn't be and 1 year newer yet.Them triples are bullet proof. Just check compression on it and look good at the skid for damage or breaks anywhere.Got 16,000 km's on my 600.

Thanks very much, I'll probably buy it, can't pass it up, and it's good to know the history with the machine. Gonna take a look at it today maybe.

x2 on the compression check. also check to see what the owner has done for maintainance. pull out the chaincase dipstick and look for filings, pull out plugs and check for anything overly white showing that it has been leaned out etc. Good luck they are a great sled!

I would only pay about $1,500-2,000 tops in great shape.

Well I went and took a good look at it tonight, looks to be real clean and well looked after. Did a compreesion check, 130+ on each cylinder, nice and even, so I went ahead and bought it, all I need now is snow. Thanks again
