Anyone know if a reverse kit from a 2000 Vmax 700 would bolt right on my 2001 SX700R? Anything special needed to make this swap? I also believe the gearing on the Vmax is the preferred gearing for the SXR 700 per Turks trail riding recommendation.
Any input on the swap would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, what would be a good price for buying this reverse kit from someone? I want to offer a fair price for it.
Thanks!

Keep in mind I have never actually done this. I have read most if not all threads about this as I have ben contemplating doing this to both the sxr and at least 1 of my srx's. From what I have read on here pretty much any reverse kit from any pro action sled should fit any other pro action sled. Donor/doney specfic stuff I have read is obviously have to cut a hole in hood for reverse lever and if your running stock can it may need to be slightly adjusted/tweeked as the reverse kit will want to occupy the same real estate. If your running aftermarket can should be plenty of room. Vmax/SxR are just about twins as far as 99% of parts go, Vmax more the "cruiser" and SxR the "hot rod" As far as gearing I have no idea. Price
I can tell you that VERY few last in classified for very long at all, pretty much post and GONE!

Right on! The only real difference is that gearing may change depending on what sled you got the reverse from.
Vipers reverse are hyvo. Later model vmaxes I don't know for sure.

Pretty sure 99 and older are non hyvo factory, 00 and up were hyvo factory. Should be fine to run either so long as you dont try to mix hyvo and non hyvo parts. Hyvo are supposed to be lighter, IMO not enough differance in the rotating mass to make a big differance on a trail sled. With any luck the reverse kit will have the gearing you want and come with chain and gears.

The gear style is same for both the vmax and sx-r.But the bottom gear on reverse models are different for the reverse. So you will need to reuse that or get one in size you want.I would just use it and change top gear out if anything.Reverse kit used $300-$400 i would say.

Thanks guys for all the input! I'm on the fence about adding it. I've determind that the reverse on the Vmax will fit my SXR without issue. And the gearing is actually an improvement from stock. My stock gearing is 22/39 and the Vmax gearing is 22/40 which is what I want. I now only need to decide if I want to tackle this job or not. Looking through the tech section there is a "how too" on the reverse hit, but it's a little involved. A lot of work to just make getting the sled off my trailer a little easier. And as far as cost, I'm hoping to pick it up for a couple hundred if I chose to move forward with it.
Thanks again for all the input!
