I was putting the engine back in my 01 SRX yesterday and was using my Advant-Edge bar to hold the centre to centre while I snugged a bolt down to hold things in place temporarily.Pioneer has the same bar now,it bolts to the crank and has a half moon cut in the other end that slides over the secondary shaft.Anyway while I had the bar in place I figured I'd make sure the torque rod will line up and to my surprise one end didn't,it was off about 1/8 from allowing the bolt to go back in.The bar actually had the engine further back essentially shortening the c-c but I found it odd that it didn't match the factory torque rod.
I know I've seen adjustable torque rods for other brands but has anyone ever taken the stock Yamaha one and had a machine shop make it into a threaded adjustable one?I have a bud that's a machinist that could do this kind of thing for me for nothing but I was just curious if anyone ever did it.The engine is all bolted back in place now so I'll probably leave it alone for now but it might be something I may investigate later on.
