air duct/box 2000 srx (pics)

I recently noticed im missing the air duct that mounts to the side of the air box in front of the coolant reservoir. What exactly does it do? Do I need it? I also just had the air box out to clean up the inside because it was filthy and noticed im missing those dividers inside the box. I did just read a thread that says 2000 models weren't equipped with them. Do I need them? And would the dealer sell them, or would I have to buy a new box? The top of my air box is cracked and missing a chunk out of the corner, so I'll need a new "frame" as I would call it that holds the foam in place on top of the box.

The air duct that mounts on the side of the air box directs air onto the brake pads and caliper.
Find someone who is parting out an srx, it will be a lot cheaper then going to the dealer.

2000 was first year for air duct as well? Unless your planing on doing ALOT of HARD and HEAVY braking you should be fine to run sled with out it, At least until its convient to get one.As far as 99 srx and should you pull them out.......I did on every one of my sleds, Some guys enlarge and drill more holes in the bottom of the air box to. Part of the airbox mod in the "how to" section.

My 99 has the brake duct and dividers. No issues so they are staying in.
