Couple questions guys. I had gotten an 88' Phazer 116" track a couple years ago as my first sled and its proven its use back and forth.. love it..but I hate not being able to tell gas/oil level.. it has the tubes on the side of the sled by the pull cord that show the gas and oil level but they're really dirty is there a way i can clean these up or take them off maybe without having to drain gas or anything, also getting a brighter light for at night since the one that lights the tubes up is a really really dull yellow. also i don't have a clue on how much oil i should be putting in and how big is my gas tank roughly? Here's a picture of it its in great condition. i had the seat of because it was get reupholstered. Thanks!
EDIT: Also does anyone know where i can get Tunnel Stiffeners or anything for these sleds to strengthen the running boards they are insanely flimsy and when i carve in the snow i feel like they're going to break.

I'm told 4130 chrome moly in the tunnel edge really helps. I'm going to be trying that on my sled.

As for the fuel and oil gauges. I would drain it and replace all the fuel line with a nice high quality clear line. They just tend to yellow and get stiff over time. They need to be replaced.

Is the oil injection removed? I can check on tank size later and let you know.

Thanks ill try those.
I've seem to be getting a lot better fuel mileage then all my buddies with newer sleds so i didn't know if they had a smaller tank or what lol
Tell me how the Chrome moly works out maybe throw up a pic of your finished product.

If you are getting new gauge hoses it is probably best to get them from Yamaha - if they still have them. It is hard to find high quality hoses that are the right color - tinted/clear, and the right diameter - they are metric. There is a white plastic backer behind the hoses that probably needs to be cleaned.

I just removed the gauge hoses on mine to prevent problems - leaks etc. Never really looked at them anyway. Always used the trip odometer for fuel level instead. When the level in the hose gets to the bottom there is a lot of fuel left, but you are running blind. Minimum fuel mileage is 100 miles per tank. Phazers will go a long way on a tank of oil, will last for days for most people.

Tunnel stiffeners are available from many accessory suppliers.
