so i know this sounds a bit odd.

i have line on a 03 rx1 with 3800kms on it.

engine is fried.

i can have the sled minus the engine for 350 bucks.

ive always thought of doing a powervalve triple into a 4stroke body.

of course not a stock powervalve ;)

some input? ever been done?

I did see they put a tripple in a new phazer body. There was video on you tube. I would think the rx1 body style would lend to a easier swap. Anything can be done with time and planning, and oh yea money LOL!

I had the same brain fart awhile back. I think it could be done. I remember i posted same question on here awhile ago thinking someone must have done it but no replys so go for it bud. Just want a full write up on the build.

I have looked into it. the bigest issue is exhaust fitting under the coul/bellypan and exiting down through some kind of muffler or stingers. There is so much fram there and the coul fits so tight on top of the upper frame mount, it is dam tight. If you were going to do it, I would use a viper with stock pipe, even then, there is just so little room unless you remake the upper frame sections.

Where do you guys find these deals? I wouldn't even try to put a 2 stroke in it.

If that was my sled, I'd be buying it to build it into a drag sled...asphalt.

If I was going to ride it on the snow, I'd keep an eye out for the Apex chassis instead. But I would never put a 2 stroke in a 4 stroke after having both.

By the time you get it done (if ever) you will have a sled that will get waxed by any eqaul two stroke and have no advantage over any eqaul four stroke.

Ive had both of them down. About the only thing they have in common is a track and skis.

I see no reward here.

I see a few advantages. Rx1 chassis has better suspension which is normally the biggest complaint with the SRX/Vipers. Biggest complaint with Rx1 is weight and a Viper or srx motor could shave a lot of weight. Basically you have a better riding Srx or a lighter Rx1.

im thinking i basically have to re design the front upper subframe

im going to see what kind of space i can gain.

we'll see i guess.

a good friend is parting out his wrecked 835srx. i may scoop that engine up.

regardless i got the sled.

350.00... cant go wrong.

This is fact. If the condition is anything near good you could make a grand or more just parting it.

As far as weight goes you won't save a ton with the swap. The weight difference between an SRX and an RX1 in stock form is 30 to 50 lbs depending on who is making the claims. Most of that difference is in the e-start system and the addition of one extra cylinder on the RX. There are a few other things that play into weight but most are very close to the same.

I remember some pictures back a while ago where a guy put all the plastic from a fcat on a rx chassis, looked decent in the pictures.

Ya that dude's name is John barrows or something.

hes up my way AKA "custom john"

I know hes been off the grid for a while since he owes people lots of $$$

he ran that sled accross water and hit a ice bank totalled.

it was boosted as well.
