Ok i have another issue that i dont know nothing about since we dont have them on boat engines.
I have checked into some blogs about the clutchs on sleds and understand them some what, just dont know what " spring Kickers " and "spring colors" mean.
My problem is this first, wont always release the clutch when i release the throttal. It will stall the engine ! Its been sitting for a few years and im sure i can just remove it and clean it all up but i have to buy another clutch puller for get it off since its my girls sled and its not a Yamaha.
Its a Artic cat ZX700 and its sprayed with penertrating spray for couple days and keep running the hell out of it but it still wont work right.
When i pull this apart, should i replace anything on it if i want the clutch to work at a slower speed since its her first sled, i dont want it to take off like a rocket. It has all aftermarket parts on it, pipes and a can, delta force redd blocks, it dont look stock and maybe thats not gonna be good for a heavy foot chick for a first sled.
Any idears and help what to do and to look for and to change to make it more stock or less snappy.
Thanks again for the help!

It sounds like you might have a rusted spider shaft. if it is sticking that bad, should be easy to find. pull the belt and the cover so the sring is not compressed, you should be able to slide the sheave easily back and forth on the spider shaft with no drag. sometimes, the spider is good and the drag is in the slides, 3 of them on the outside of the moveable sheave. over time, they can get built up with dust and or aluminum corosion. Hopefully, this is your issue as it just takes a cleaning. pull the clutch and clean it completely. you can use 0000 steel wool on the inside of these slides to clean them out with the tip of your finger if that is your issue..
since your new to this, make sure you do not grease or oil anything on the clutch, it is a dry assembly and if greased, you will make it collect dust and wear out faster as well as not work correctly.

check the weight bushings and roller bushings, had one on mine that caused a similair problem, the bushing was pretty much gone causing the roller to cock which then caused the whole sheave to get hung up

If you dont want to drop the dough on correct puller you can get the corresponding bolt that fits the threads on the clutch, NOT THE CRANK but the threads the puller would use. Pull the bolt holding clutch on,Pack 99.9% full of axle grease. Start threading the bolt you picked up into the threads on the clutch, this will pack/compress the grease into end of crank and then push the clutch off the end of the crank.....a mess but cheap and usually works better than the puller some times. Theres a video on Youtube where a guy uses water instead of grease....down fall is sled has to be on its side!
