What do the 8BU 00's act like as a trail weight?I know that's a loaded question because there's so many variables like how they are weighted with rivets and how the secondary is set up but generally speaking how do they shift etc? All I want is a good trail set up for my ported 01 SRX and these are what I have to work with for now along with a Hauck H helix.I have no idea what the secondary spring is the color mark is gone but the primary is g-w-g.

I have a Hauck W and Hauck red secondary spring I bought for my 98 years ago if anyone knows if they would work with the 8BU's I could slap them in.I may buy a set of heelclickers as soon as I can swing it but I still have to buy a track for this project yet so for now I'm looking to make what I have work.

I have the 8bu10 in my ported srx, I have them loaded with 4.5s blue bender primary spring. I have a 50/38 helix at 70 green spring. It works awesome and has an aggressive engagement. Jamie is right they don't have eff all for back shifting, which doesn't bother me. It's a trade off I don't regret, as I ride aggressive in the trails. If you want some solid back shifting these weights are not great. What did you decide for base jetting.

Hmm that sounds about right for shift characteristics where this was a former drag sled,I guess I'll look for another set of weights.

My jetting as it sits right now is 152.5 mains and 45 pilots with the needle set at 3.5.I went to a bigger main because the carbs are bored so we'll see how things look as far as plugs and wash after I get the chance to ride it.I'm not too sure on the bored carbs,if I end up with a crappy running engine I'll put a set of stockers on and perhaps be able to go down a size on the mains and or the pilots.
The previous owner had a bunch of holes drilled in the airbox and I closed up most of them, left a few,so I need to keep an eye on the exhaust temps and luckily this has an egt gauge.

Cool well keep me posted, I would love to come over your way for a ride some time this winter see your sled.

8bu-00 Are Drag Race Weights. Terrible For Everyday Riding. Awesome For Racng. Run That 8bu-10 Set-up Orchie Posted. 3:16 (yammie Tony)

used 89a-10's in a 98 srx and they worked pretty good. I'd have to check the exact setup but it pulls nice.

8bu-10 are awsome trail weight! Clickers are more like 8bu-00's. 8bu-10's are between 8dn's and 8bu-00's. The 8bu-10's will give you a little more top speed than the 8dn's, especially with that nice low angle helix, you won't find much better than the 8bu-10's for the trail/lake. Listen to YGOD!

I'm currently running 8bu00's on the trail with my 780 so far it seems to be ok, got a little more tinkering to do
