2000 sxr 700.. can someone explain how to put in. Tether switch? Or where to buy? Is it easy for a non handy person? Also any downfalls to sled by adding one? What and where do i purchase? My tors is acting up again. Switch replaced years ago at dealer.. idle and free play look good.. i have decided to try a safty switch instead.. thanks

the install is easy. if you can cut, splice, and seal a wire connection, your good to go. you will have to drill a hole in the console to mount the switch so factor that in to your ability equation. soldering is always the best route and sealing is the key. silicone, shrink tube, liquid electrical tape, etc. anything but scotchlocks and cheap tape.

theres two types of switches available. normally open and normally closed. i am pretty sure yamaha has the normally open circuit, but it may serve you better to ask the question in another thread for confirmation.

i have pretty much given up on the cheap tethers. the kind with the rubber thingy over the switch. too many problems with them making contact. of course the better ones are more $$, but well worth it in my opinion. they use a plastic key type insert and usually have a bar mount option so no holes to drill.
