Just a few pics of my Viper Mountain....My trail sled...Worthless in the steep and deep but what a fast, comfortable trail sled it is !

Just installed a used SLP triple pipe set....So she will run now !!! ( Did this set-up ever wake this sled up !!! )

Whopping 950 miles on this to date as I dont get to ride it often...

Just thought I would share some pics of what I consider, IMO, one of the finest sleds ever built...Quality Yamaha product all the way !!!

Extend it to a 151!! ;)! I like where you put your shovel too. What shovel is that & how did you mount it?

No real reason to extend to 151"...The sled is only used as a trail sled. The shovel is an HMK shovel. I simply used a large piece of strong velcro to attach it to the extra belt, on top of the clutch cover. Handle gets carried in my backpack.

I did sell the SRX700 to a guy in UT...I will miss that sled. It was 100% flawless.

All I can say is WOW !!!!...Had first opportunity to really run SLP Triple piped sled on the trail and WOW what an improvement over stock. Fit and finish of SLP set-up was near perfect. Raised needles, re-jet for elevation, increased pilot jet size 5 points, and installed tourque limiter. Sled runs HARD...This is the mountain version with a 144" track and I still managed an honest 100 mph on a long pull, verified with gps. ( Stock clutch set-up ) Faster now then my stock SRX700 was !!!

I also ran the sled for extended period in the "lean" zone, doing 20-30 mph, like my girls will ride it and my digital Koso gauge never went above 168 f.

Should be very reliable performance mod. That Yamaha triple motor RULES !!!!

I have a 2003. It is my off trail sled. Srx for the trails. That thing is all you need for any snow or powder or incline the UP has to offer. Not understanding how this is considered a trail sled. What do you use off trail? Must be one hell of a machine.

Considered by all in the West a trail sled only...Yamaha is not even in the game in the mountains....Yes...The Viper may take you places, but the weight makes it miserable off trail. It literally weighs 100 +++ lbs too much to make it any fun in the steep and deep.

I look forward to the day, if it ever happens, when Yamaha builds a real mountain sled similar to the Polaris Pro RMK, Arctic Cat M8 or Skidoo Summit with Etec 800.

Wonder if I am leaving anything on the table with the stock clutching set-up ? WOT pulling at 9,000 rpm's, back shift seems good but performance clutching set-up may be next investment ?

should be over revving with out clutching I would think? Hows the mpg on that bad boy? Very sharp looking sled!!!!! ;)!

I just put a Pioneer 51/45 helix & green spring on the secondary. 21 tooth top gear. What a difference, accelerates like a rocket pulling a 144 1.5 challenger track.

You would expect an over-rev, but I ride at 5k ft and up. At sea level, I would be probably seeing 9200 rpm's. Right now it's dialed in to run best at 4-6k ft.

Anybody have first hand knowlege of a proven clutch set-up, considering higher elevation I am running at ? Please send pm. Thanks !

What is your jetting at currently?

Just picked up a set of used SLP pipes myself...not ceramic coated. But I will be running nearly same altitude 5-7k.

Also appreciate any clutching info. I will also start searching the threads for info.

Thanks.

Get a set of heel clickers and it will be night and day.

My stock clutching with the speedwerx triples at sea level reved to around 9000-9100 which is about right and was faster than stock. Put the heelclickers on and its crazy how much faster it got. Got it to hit 195 km on the dreamometer last week. Beats down srxs pretty good now. Even pulled my brothers yamacharged apex on approx 1000' race and top speed I'm a couple mph faster

:2strokes:

I think I am running 152.5...I will confirm that though...SLP's Jetting specs are pretty spot on. Key is to raise those needles !!!

I would also HIGHLY recommend adding the torque limiter. Takes 30 minutes to install and really minimizes motor movement, resulting in cooler and longer belt life. Also, install Ultimax belt. Softer compound than Yamaha belt. Better grab, less slip and runs cooler. Yamaha belts last FOREVER, but you give up performance with them for sure.
