first thing to check is the continuity on the grips themselves.
find the bullet connectors under the bar pad for each grip, seperate them, and test each grip independantly. if one grip is bad, neither will work.
from there, there can be several other contributing factors but its quickest and easiest to rule out the obvious.

My handwarmers would not work on my 2001 MM700. Checked connections and continuity on grips. Perfect. Turns out, the handwarmers go through the CDI. WTF. Changed out CDI for new. Handwarmers back. I hope this is not your problem. Expensive repair.

It is starting to look like it is. I checked all the continuity points and all good and i tested the wires going to the cdi and the test light would not light. So im assuming that means cdi is the problem. Correct?AttakMax said:My handwarmers would not work on my 2001 MM700. Checked connections and continuity on grips. Perfect. I wouldnt rule that your problem just yet. The variable resistors(adjustment knobs on your dash) would be the next thing I would check. Mine went bad last year and had to replace them. Problem solved. However, when the resistors go bad you should get a trouble code flashing on your dash. Even if your not getting a code I would still check them before deciding to tear into the CDI. That's expensive just for grip heaters IMO.

Use an ohm meter on the leads of the resistors. As you turn the knob it should change resistance.
Test lights are nice when when looking for power but multi meters are better when diagnosing electrical problems.
